What is LearnCentral? LearnCentral is a new social learning network for education. More than a social network or a learning community, this open environment enables those who are passionate about teaching and learning to connect with others, exchange ideas, share content and best practices, meet in real-time, hold and attend events, and so much more.
Why is LearnCentral unique?
LearnCentral is all about YOU, not just as a site visitor but as a participant, contributor, and partner in our mission. Similar to our familiar No User Left Behind product philosophy, our rallying cry for LearnCentral is No Educator Left Alone. Here you can begin to make the connections you need—peer to peer, classroom to classroom, school to school, country to country—to form a collective wisdom that is greater than the sum of its parts.
What can you do in LearnCentral?
Find colleagues who share similar professional or personal interests. Watch your Network Activity list for recommendations. We'll introduce you to others on LearnCentral who match your Profile.
Create groups and participate in discussions. Be sure to browse the existing discussion forums. Something new is added every day.
Meet online in real-time with others using Elluminate vRoom™, your own personal virtual room. Access your vRoom from your Profile page, and invite colleagues to participate in live sessions.
Schedule large events using LearnCentral’s dedicated virtual meeting space.
Create or upload standards-based content resources and align to state standards. You'll discover more valuable content as more educators join and contribute their own.
Accessing Elluminate vRoom
Before you access your vRoom for the first time, make sure your computer has a sound card with speakers and a microphone. You can also use a headset with a microphone. Remember, your vRoom is limited to three simultaneous participants (including you). You can invite as many friends as you want, but only three of you can be in the vRoom together.
